白浜, Shimoda 7/18
As I went to sleep earlier than the rest, I was able to wake up around 5:30am and go for a lovely morning stroll along the beach…it was so peaceful! There were hardly any people around only the surfers. I also dropped by the Shrine opposite our lodgings and made a quick stop…to bless & thank the powers that be for a wonder trip. While I was there I stumbled across a beautiful old tree. Nature is…
Then just before midday everyone got up (that’s what I love about holidays…no alarms! Well we can ignore them for the most part anyway!) We could relax and take our time, no rush! I wish we could have a beach house there! So finally I tried to the blow the horn as Masa went to S.Africa during the World Cup and brought it back…it’s much harder to blow than it looks though!! So today we moved to another beach about 15 mins from Shirahama for the… wait for it
Time to stuff our faces silly! And boy did we do that…with the help of Master Chef “MASA” with helpful assistants Aiちゃん & Yukiちゃん who were in charge of feeding the five thousand! I think it was a perfect idea to have a BBQ, the weather was great and everyone was in high spirits! The さんま、もじBacon á la Josh looked delicious but やきそば＆chicken drumsticks were my favourite.
It was my first time to play “SMASH THE WATERMELON”
Which appeared to be a traditional game in Japan as there were loads of other people doing the exact same thing. It was so funny…We put on a blind fold and are spun around a couple of times, then everyone shouts directions “ひだり、みぎ、もうすぎ“ etc and you have to try to find the watermelon and smash it open!
well I smashed the tiniest piece of the side, but I was satisfied…but waiting to tuck in the watermelon was tough because it just looked so juicy!!!! I love the group shots of us throughout the weekend break. Everyone had soooooooo much fun…and more was still yet to come!
Lady GAGA was on reapeat! Say no more…
