Last week my man came to meet me on the VERY rare occasion that is whenI get a break during my busy schedule! So we headed to a famous Okonomiyaki place!
So my man speaks fluent Japanese…. comment “Many foreign people can speak Japanese in Japan, but not the *******!” Funny… But I can’t really laugh because I’m one of them, my Japanese is NO WHERE near perfect.
I still can’t decide which one I prefer… Udon is my favourite noodle and I love cheese so it’s a difficult toss up! Ummmm….How about you?
In Japan, there are two areas where okonomi-yaki is very popular: Osaka and Hiroshima. Okonomiyaki is cooked differently in the two regions. In Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, chopped cabbage is cooked on top of thinly spread batter. Also, yakisoba noodles are usually added in Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki.
-1 cup all purpose flour
-3/4 cup dashi soup or water
-2 cups finely chopped cabbage
-2 cups bean sprouts
-12 pieces thinly sliced pork
-4 packages pre-steamed chucka noodles for
