BEFORE & AFTER
I don’t really know what to say…except what were the graphic designers thinking when they made the new Logo?? And the bigger question is why would they want to make a new one after it’s predecessor has lasted for a good 20 years without complaint!!
I think the new Logo with a smaller blue box sitting above the “p” in Gap looks like a 1 year uni students project to be frank. I didn’t study graphic design per se but I have studied the field of design enough to know that all forms of art are open to everyone’s own interpretation, but I think after reading reviews the majority agree with me, it was an epic fail by designer Trey Laird and his firm Laird and Partners.
I don’t understand why brands need to “RE-BRAND” themselves, haven’t they ever heard the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”?? GAP is an American company and always will be I think just because they plan to enter and hope to dominate the European market (check earlier post GAP x Valentino??) there is no need to desperately reinvent the company. It’s great at what it does sell jeans, cords and khakis.
Thank goodness they decided to revert back to the original after all the bad press. No doubt it was probably a bid for publicity anyway…
