From a fashion & Art Lovers Perspective

Runaway from KANYE WEST forthcoming Album | My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Watch it and see what you think first before I influence you with my opinion…

But be warned this “Short Film” isn’t so short lasting 35mins, but it’s worth the watch if you can open your mind just a little and forget who and what Kanye West is or has done in the Past!

You will see Kanye as An Artist, Director, Musician, Style Icon and so much more…

A master piece created by Kanye West

and carried by the beautiful Phoenix | Selita Ebanks

Written by | HYPE WILLIAMS

Art Director | Vanessa Beecroft

Costume Design | Philip Lim & Martin Izquierdo

Cinematographer | Kyle Kibb

Although entitled “Runaway” I think a more fitting title would be Prejudice as the movie visualizes and presents this in numerous ways.

Prejudice | An assumption made about someone or something before having adequate knowledge to be able to do so with guaranteed accuracy.

“First Rule in this world baby, don’t pay attention to anything you see in the news.”

Something I completely agree with. That is why I always take what I read with a pinch of salt, not that I read the news that much these days as I find it terribly depressing.

This scene sees Kanye using a 2000XL MPC (midi production centre) The track modified with this device is what I’m talking about, I’m looking forward to hearing his Album so much more after this sample, which I think sounds incredibly similar to M.I.A… am I wrong?

Respect where respect is due | Rest in Peace MJ

There are several reasons why this scene is my favourite::

Firstly, the fact the all of the guests dining are of African decent and the waiters are Caucasian. Of course Kanye wasn’t going to miss a prime opportunity to reverse the roles of a lifetimes history.

Secondly, this impeccably produced line…

“Your girlfriend’s really beautiful, do you know she’s a Bird?”

“No, I never noticed that!”

It may just be me, but I interpret this as a reference to his relationship with Amber Rose (ex stripper) He probably had to deal with so much crap and likewise she must have felt the strain and so did their relationship as it ended earlier this year.

Thirdly, Kanye looks Dapper than ever in his crisp Tux by Philip Lim.

Fourthly, Symbolism, symbolism and more symbolism.

And Finally the main event “RUNAWAY” single is performed with a ray of black tu-tu cladded ballerinas.

This scene is what it is nothing more, nothing less, “I always find something wrong” It’s so true. There is beauty in everything around us, but yet we are never satisfied.

“Do you know what I hate most about your world? Anything that is different you try to change!”

Maquillage is a wonderful thing…if I didn’t know better I’d say this was the handy work of a M•A•C artist, but then that’s just me being biast yet again. I can’t take anything away from Selita Ebanks (model/Actress) She played the part perfectly, just like a bird. THE COSTUME | A piece of art in itself is textured and modifies every motionless move made to represent that of a mythical bird that never dies.

But I wonder what it must be like to be a part of Kanye movement/second wave or should I say rebirth to the popular audience.

“You’re my devil, you’re my angel, you’re my heaven, you’re my hell. You’re my now, you’re my forever. You’re my freedom, you’re my jail. You’re my lies, you’re my truths. you’re my war, you’re my truce. You’re my questions, you’re my proof. You’re my stress and you’re my masseuese…”

I just Love this image… Anticipation is not the word, but it will do for now!

“I learned to play the Game, I love you”
